My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened. — Michel de Montaigne
A new study proves that 85% of what we worry about never happens.

In three parts, here is an approach to soothing ourselves in the face of anxiety and worry. It begins with Awareness. In the course of three days, be mindful of your thoughts specifically taking note of how many times you find yourself worrying or feeling anxiety about something.
Pause.
Take a few deep breathes, in through your nose (relaxes the cranial nerves) and out through your mouth.
Put your hand on your heart and asks yourself, "What's going on, sweetheart?"
Listen and become aware of any thoughts, feelings or memories that come up.
EXTRA CREDIT! Writing this down (even if it is a memo in our smartphone!) can be helpful. Write whatever comes up, even if you don't think it's related.
SUPER EXTRA CREDIT!! If you don't already meditate, begin to meditate. Even if it's for one minute. Just sit and close your eyes and try to let your mind relax and your thoughts go. If that doesn't happen, NO BIGGIE! Just try to stay with it.
After 3 days, look back and see if there is a pattern or recurring feelings.
HAVE GENTLENESS AND COMPASSION FOR YOURSELF! (she screams in all caps!!)
This is just part one, Awareness.
I want to strongly suggest Radical Tenderness with yourself throughout this process. This is a process, not an event! If you’ve been having a certain feeling or behavior for decades it might take some time to shift. In everything I share, if I could make one sacred suggestion, it would be to have immense kindness and tenderness for yourself, no matter what.
Love & Blessings,
Pamela
